Temporary Closing of Public Road – N71 National Secondary Road - Marino Street, Bantry.

Notice is hereby given that Cork County Council is considering, pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act , 1993, the temporary closure of the following road to public traffic as detailed below for the duration specified. The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of watermains, road-resurfacing works on the N71 at Marino Street, Bantry and in the interest of public safety.

Road to be Closed:

N71 Marino Street, Bantry.

Date of Closure:

Nightly from Tuesday 3rd May 2022 to Monday 4th July 2022

Hours of Closure:

19.00 to 06.00

Diversion Route:

Light Goods Vehicles and smaller vehicles heading southbound shall be diverted off the N71 onto L-4750 Barrack Street, then onto L-4749 Main Street, then onto L-4755 High Street, L-4753 William Street and then via L-4754 New Street, back onto the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square.

Light Goods Vehicles and smaller vehicles heading northbound shall be diverted from the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square onto L-4754 New Street and Bridge Street, then onto L-4752 Chapel Street, then onto L-4751 Market Street, then via L-4749 Main Street and via L-4750 Barrack Street back onto the N71.

Heavy Commercial Vehicles heading southbound shall be diverted off the N71 via L-4750 Barrack Street, then onto L-4749 Main Street and shall be directed contra flow onto L-4754 New Street, back onto the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square.

Note New Street junctions shall be manned to manage the contra flow traffic.

Heavy Commercial Vehicles heading northbound shall be diverted off the N71 at Wolfe Tone Square onto L-4754 New Street, then contra flow onto L-4749 Main Street and onto L-4750 Barrack Street, back onto the N71.

Note Main Street junctions shall be manned to manage the contra flow traffic.

The diversion routes will be fully signposted.

Any person interested may lodge an objection in writing with the undersigned not later than 10 am on Friday 22nd April, 2022.

Period of Proposed Closure 
From 08.00hrs on Monday 4th July 2022 to 18.00hrs on Saturday 23rd July 2022.

Reason for Proposed Closure
To facilitate Installation of new Sewer Main.

Alternative Routes
From the L-3658 Heartbreak Hill junction divert towards the R630 at Lower Aghada Village, then via L3652-0 to L3651-0 Church Road, Aghada onwards to Upper Aghada Village.

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure. 

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-52-2022, not later than 5.00pm on Friday 22nd April 2022.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.

Period of Proposed Closure 
From 08:00hrs on Monday 27th June 2022 to 18.00hrs on Friday 1st July 2022.

Reason for Proposed Closure
To facilitate Installation of new sewer main.

Alternative Routes
From the Holly Road Junction divert via the L-7662 Holly Road forward to Rostellan Village on the L-7663, turning Southbound onto the R630 to the L-3653 Hill Road and onward to the L-3658 to Upper Aghada Village.

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-51-2022, not later than 5.00pm on Friday 22nd April 2022.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.
