Temporary Closing of Public Roads

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

Road Subject of Proposed Closure

L-2057-0 (Part Of), St Patrick’s Quay, Bandon, Co. Cork – “Phase 2A” continuing Road Closure, 

Part A – Section of works at the junction with Bridge Place/St Patrick’s Hill/St Patrick’s Quay to just past the east car park entrance.

Part B – Section of works from east car park junction to its junction with St Finbarr’s Place/Market Street.

 

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 19:00hrs on Friday 11th of November 2022 to 19:00hrs on Wednesday 30th of November 2022. (24hr Closure).

Either Part A or Part B will be implemented at any time.

Works for Part A where Harte’s car park needs to be closed, will be carried out during night-time hours from 19:00hrs to 07:00hrs. 

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Irish Water Pipeline Construction.

Alternative Routes

Town Centre Bound Traffic: Traffic intending to traverse St Patrick’s Quay from St Finbarr Place shall divert along McSwiney Quay and then Weir Street to the Town Centre. 

N71 Clonakilty Bound Traffic: Traffic intending to traverse St Patrick’s Quay from St Finbarr Place shall divert east onto R586 Glasslinn Road.  At the roundabout take the second road access to N71 Bandon Bypass, turn right onto the Kibrittain Road junction. At the mini roundabout turn left onto the N71 west-bound continuing towards Clonakilty. 

Access to Harte’s Car Park shall be maintained at all times during the day. 

No left turn shall be in operation at the Glasslinn Road Junction with St Finbarr Place.

Access from southbound St Finbarr Place traffic intending to access Oliver Plunkett Street shall be encouraged via Glasslinn Road and Station Road.

In order to facilitate free flowing traffic on McSwiney Quay, parking will be prohibited on McSwiney Quay for the duration of the road closure.

Traffic may access Harte’s Car Park east entrance, via the east side approach on St Patrick Quay (when open) or from Bridge Lane. Egress from the car park shall be via Bridge Lane onto Pearse Street. 

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-178-2022, not later than 5.00pm on Wednesday 26th October 2022.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.
