Temporary Speed Limits - Dunkettle Interchange

ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 2004

Road Works Speed Limit Order – to facilitate the construction of

Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme

 – relating to the following roads in County Cork: N25; N8; N40

Notice is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers vested under Section 10 of the Road Traffic Act 2004, as amended, and in the interests of road safety, Cork County Council has made a Road Works Speed Limit Order applying the Road Works temporary Speed Limits at the levels and locations and for the periods specified below.

Period: from 2nd February, 2022 to 30th January, 2023 or such earlier date as may be determined by Cork County Council

 

Location: N25/N8 Mainline Westbound - on the N25 Westbound from a point 100m West of the Little Island Flyover (E: 175,627, N: 72,767) to the intersection of the N25 Westbound with the City/County Boundary Line (E: 173,851, N: 72,308).

Default permanent speed limit (KPH): 100/120

Temporary speed limit to apply (KPH): 60                      

Location: N8/N25 Mainline Eastbound - from the intersection of the N25 Eastbound with the City/County Boundary Line (E: 173,852, N: 72,330) to a point 100m West of the Little Island Flyover (E: 175,623, N: 72,786) where the temporary speed limit is to change to 120KPH.

Default permanent speed limit (KPH): 100/120

Temporary speed limit to apply (KPH): 60

Location: N40/N25 Slip Road Eastbound - on the N25 Eastbound from a point just east of the City/County Boundary (E: 173,852, N: 72,330) to the existing change in speed Limit point from 100 KPH to 120 KPH on the N25 Eastbound (E: 174,141, N: 72,384).

Default permanent speed limit (KPH): 80/100

Temporary speed limit to apply (KPH): 60

Location: The diverge to the Little Island Flyover from the N25 Eastbound just West of the Flyover - on the N25 Eastbound from where the existing 120 KPH speed limit starts (E: 174,141, N: 72,384) to the end of the Little Island Flyover diverge from the N25 Eastbound (E: 175,674, N: 72,834) where the existing speed limit reduces to 50 KPH

Default permanent speed limit (KPH): 120

Temporary speed limit to apply (KPH): 60

The purpose of the temporary speed limits is to facilitate the construction of the above road project and to improve the safety of workers and road users during the construction phase of the project.
