Advice Not to Swim at Youghal Front Strand 19 July 2023

In consultation with the HSE an Advisory Notice Not to Swim has been issued for Youghal Front Strand, due to high levels of bacteria in samples taken on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th of July 2023. The likely cause is localized heavy rainfall. The bathing water is currently being re-sampled and updated results will be posted as soon as possible on www.beaches.ie and at the Notice Board at Youghal Front Strand.

Public Participation: Identification of Bathing Waters | Rannpháirtíocht Phoiblí: Uiscí Snámha a Shainaithint

Local authorities must identify official bathing areas in their area every year so that they can be monitored for safety, water quality and their level of use.  To help with this process, Cork County Council are asking people who swim at beaches, lakes and rivers to tell them if they think they should maintain existing designated bathing waters designations or give a new official bathing area designation to areas that are commonly used for swimming, but not identified at the moment.
