Macroom to Embrace Al-Fresco Culture (GA)

The long-anticipated re-opening of the hospitality sector has finally arrived, and many County Cork towns have been embracing the opportunity to re-imagine town centres and adapt public spaces as unique outdoor dining experiences. Under Cork County Council’s ambitious suite of measures to stimulate local economies, Project ACT 2021, a continuation of last year’s hugely successful initiative designed to activate county towns, spaces are being transformed across the county.

New exhibition launched on 1921 Rebels held at Spike Island

A new exhibition entitled ‘Imprisoning a Nation’, which tells the story of the 1921 prisoners held on Spike Island during Ireland’s War of Independence, has been opened by Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley.

€1.9M in Climate Adaptation Allocation welcomed by Cork County Council

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley has today welcomed an allocation of €1,879,650 from the Department of Transport under the Climate Adaptation and Resilience Works 2021. This allocation provides funding for 70 projects, covering flood mitigation and drainage works, adaptations to reduce damage to roads caused by severe weather and enhancing coastal protections.

Carrigaline Transportation and Public Realm Enhancement Plan

Active Travel high on the agenda for N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project

The N/M20 Cork to Limerick Project has the potential to deliver 80 kilometres of transformative active travel (walking and cycle) infrastructure, connecting together the communities of Cork, Blarney, Mallow, Buttevant, Charleville, Bruree, Croom, Patrickswell and Limerick.

Collision Analysis Confirms Major Safety Issues on N20 Cork to Limerick Road

Figures released by the N/M20 Project office show that the proportion of fatal collisions to all personal injury collisions on the N20 is four times higher than the national average. In addition, the rate of personal injury collisions on the N20 is substantially higher than average, meaning drivers are more likely to be involved in a personal injury collision on the N20 than on other national roads in the country.
