Cork County Council has confirmed five community nominations for the 2023 IPB Pride of Place Awards, in association with Co-operation Ireland. Now in its 21st consecutive year, the Pride of Place Competition acknowledges the work being done every day by communities all over the island of Ireland.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Danny Collins has welcomed the contract signing for Bantry Relief Road Phase 1.  The 1km first phase will run from the existing junction on the N71 Glengarriff Road and the Slip Road to the north of the town, looping southwards close to the alignment of the former railway line re-joining existing roads at Sheskin.

Cork County Council and Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Regional Road Safety met in recent weeks and have commenced an urgent review of Main Street Charleville to facilitate the preparation of safety improvement proposals. 

The Cork Summer Show will take place on 17th and 18th June 2023, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at Cork Show Grounds, Curraheen Road, Cork Exit 2 (Curraheen) on the N40.

Cork County Council Library and Arts Services are offering an array of free arts events and activities as part of the Bealtaine Festival this May. Age and Opportunity’s Bealtaine Festival is Ireland’s National Celebration of the arts and creativity as we age. 

Cork County Council’s North, South and West Cork Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs) in partnership with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, SECAD Partnership and Comhar na nOileán Teo are currently developing community-led Local Development Strategies (LDS) for each LCDC areas to deliver the next LEADER programme 2023 – 2027. 

Cork County Council has announced the return of FrameWorks, a classroom-based education programme aimed at primary school children in Cork County.

Two Cork based businesses have been awarded Local Enterprise Awards from Cork County Council’s respective Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) in Cork North and West and South Cork. Companies ‘BaseWorx’ and ‘Hyde Whiskey’ received the accolade for building successful businesses despite the challenging times of the past two years. 

Cork County Council Library and Arts Service has announced the 2023 Cruinniú na nÓg programme, with almost 40 events planned across Cork County.

Cork County Council can confirm that extensive works, including load testing and detailed inspections, are underway in respect of the final stages of the Dursey Cable Car service resumption.

Students from South Cork have taken 2nd prize in the Senior Category at this year’s Student Enterprise Programme National Finals.  The finals of the Local Enterprise Office initiative took place earlier this month in Croke Park.
