Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has launched its 2023 calendar featuring colourful illustrations designed by children from all corners of Cork County.

Minister of State for the Office of Public Works Patrick O’Donovan TD today unveiled a plaque to mark the completion of the new Bandon Flood Relief Scheme representing an investment of some €30.5 million in flood defences for the town. The scheme ensures 392 properties are now protected from potential significant flooding, 177 of which are residential and family homes in the local Bandon area.

Cork County Council has launched the 10th installment of its heritage publication series entitled ‘Heritage Towns and Villages of County Cork’.

Cork to once again host the IRONKIDS event on Friday, 18 August 2023; with general registrations opening on Wednesday, 14 December 2022 at 14:00 GMT on www.ironman.com/im-ireland.

Cork County Council’s offices are closed on 26th, 27th, 28th December and 2nd January.

Offices will be open as normal on December 29th and 30th.

Cork County is currently under a Met Eireann Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning which will be updated to Status Orange from 6pm this evening until 12 noon tomorrow Thursday, December 15th. A further Status Orange Low Temperature/Ice warning will come into effect from 6pm tomorrow until 12noon on Friday 16th December. Severe frost and further icy stretches are forecasted to set in tonight, with temperatures likely to fall below -5 degrees in many areas.

A first for Doneraile, as a new Tourist Information Point opens at the Café Townhouse on Main Street, ideally placed to direct visitors to the extensive range of things to do and places to see in the region. 

One of the country’s most eagerly anticipated road projects took a step closer to completion with the official opening of the Macroom Bypass section of the N22 Baile Bhuirne to Macroom new Dual Carriageway by the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Danny Collins and Taoiseach Mícheál Martin
