The annual Mayor’s Community Awards celebrate and acknowledge the volunteers and communities who work together across Cork County. Now in its 8th year, the 2021 awards were held virtually on March 24th.

This Spring Cork County Council is offering an online gardening course open to all residents, representatives of Tidy Towns groups, Residents Associations, Green Schools Coordinators and Community Groups in County Cork.

Following on from the success of the 2020 Painting and Signage Scheme, Elected Members of the Cork County Council’s Carrigaline Municipal District have allocated a further €20,000 to the Carrigaline Paint Scheme for 2021. At the February meeting of Carrigaline MD, members also agreed to extend the scheme to the settlements of Ringaskiddy and Crosshaven. 

The annual Mayor’s Community Awards for Cork County will take place on Wednesday, March 24th and this year will move to an online celebration to mark the outstanding contributions made by individuals and community and voluntary groups across the county.

As part of Cork County Council’s Winter Service Plan, a limited number of salt bins are being made available to Residents Associations and Community Groups on a shared funding basis. Under this initiative, the Council will make bins and salt available at a subsidized rate to aid Community Groups and residents in dealing with icy road and footpath conditions in areas that are not covered by the Council’s Road Treatment Routes.

Following a challenging year for the community and voluntary sector, Cork County Council is delighted to announce funding to the value of over €1.8million to support local communities in 2021. The Council’s Community Fund Scheme provides financial support to a range of groups and organisations right across the county and will open for applications on Monday, January 11th.
