TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

 

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:-

 

Road Subject of Proposed Closure

Part of the L – 2201 from its junction with the L-2200 at Larchill Cross Roads, Carrigadrohid to its junction with the L-22001 at Shandangan East four cross road north, Carrigadrohid.

                                  

Period of Proposed Closure

From 09.30am Monday 16th of December 2019 to 16.30pm Wednesday 18th of December 2019 (24 hour road Closure)’

 

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate the Removal of Dangerous Trees on behalf of the ESB.

 

Alternative Route

At the junction of the L-2200 and the L-22001 at Larchill Cross Roads, continue northeast along the L-2200 towards Cannaway School Cross.  Turn right onto the L- 22001 at Cannaway School Cross and continue southeast to Shandangan East four cross road.

 

This alternative route is also applicable when travelling in reverse.

 

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC 218-19, not later than 5pm on Wednesday 4th December 2019.

Period of Proposed Closure

From 07.00hrs Monday 6th January, 2020 to 07.00hrs Sunday 26th January, 2020.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Installation of Pipe network associated with the Lower Harbour Sewerage Scheme

 

Alternative Routes

Traffic travelling eastbound on the L-2474 wishing to access locations east of the closed section of roadway should turn left onto the L-2481-0, head in an Easterly Direction and proceed to the junction of Laurel Hill (L-2480) they should turn left to rejoin the R-610. Traffic on the R610 wishing to access locations west of the closed section of roadway should turn right onto Laurel Hill and follow diversion signage.

 

Traffic on the L-6470-0 should head in a Westerly Direction and turn left to rejoin the R-610.

 

Traffic on Scotchmans Road and Diamond road should proceed in an Easterly Direction to join the R-610/ they should then follow diversion signage

 

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure

From 12.00hrs to 17.00 hrs Thursday 26th December 2019

 

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Drimoleague Road Trotting Races

 

Alternative Routes

From Bantry to Dunmanway via the R586.  At Drimoleague Village turn right onto the R593. Continue along R593 to Bawnnahow Cross Roads, Derreeny.  At Bawnnahow Cross Roads turn left onto L-4231-0.  Continue straight through Bredagh Cross Roads to join L-4231-30.  Continue straight through cross roads at Driminidy Wood to join L-4231-51.  Continue straight ahead at Minanes Bridge to join the L-4231-71.  At Minanes Cross Roads turn left onto L-4234-24.  Continue straight ahead to join L-4234-0 at Killaveenoge West.  Continue north west along L-4234-0 to join the R586 at Derrynagree East.  At Derrynagree East turn right onto R586 and continue north east to Dunmanway.

 

This alternative route is also applicable in the reverse when travelling from Dunmanway to Bantry.

 

Local access to be facilitated throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Durrus Road Trotting Races

 

Alternative Routes

From Durrus Village to Parkanna Bridge/Letterlicky West via the R591 north east to meet the N71 at Dromacoosane.  Turn right onto the N71 and continue on the N71 (including the right turn at Ballydehob Cross) south east to Parkanna Bridge/Letterlicky West.

 

This alternative route is also applicable in the reverse when travelling from Parkanna Bridge/Letterlicky West to Durrus Village.

 

Local access to be facilitated throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

 R586-12 (Part) - Dunmanway Road, Bandon (from a point 450m west of Ball Alley Lane (L-6131-0) Junction to a point  105 metres east of the Ball Alley Lane junction)

 

Period of Proposed Closure

From 07.00hrs Monday 6th January, 2020 to 19.00hrs Friday 28th February, 2020

(24hr Closure)

 

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Pipeline Construction

 

Alternative

All traffic intending to travel east along Dunmanway Road shall before the road closure be diverted to return west along the R-586-12, traffic to then continue onto the R-586-25, then at Carhoon East turn left onto the L-2019-0, travel over  Baxter’s Bridge, then at the next main road junction turn left onto the N71-982 at Knockaveale, follow the road on to N71-993 and then N71-1001(Clonakilty Road), take the 2nd exit at the mini roundabout onto Kilbrittain Road (N71-1013), then turn left onto the Bandon Relief Road (N71-1018), follow the road onto the N71-102, then take the 1st exit at the roundabout on to the Glasslinn Road (R586-0), follow the road, then at the next main road junction turn right onto St Finbarr Place and continue onto Bridge Place (R-586-0) followed by North Main Street, Emmet Row(R586-12) and then Dunmanway Road as approaching the closed road from the opposite direction before the Ball Alley Lane Junction.

 

West Bound Traffic intending travel along the Dunmanway Road will before the road closure be diverted south-east along Emmet Row (R586-12), continue on to R586-0 via North Main Street and Bridge Place, follow onto R603-0 St Finbarr Place, then L-2057-0 St Patricks Quay, followed onto R603-0 via St Patricks Place and New Road, then at the mini roundabout take the 2nd exit on to N71-1001(Clonakilty Road). From this point, follow the prior stated eastbound alternate diversion route from N71-1001 in reverse.  

 

Eastbound Traffic travelling from the Enniskeane direction towards Bandon, will be diverted right onto L-2019 at Carhoon East.

 L-2050-0 (Part), McSwiney Quay, Bandon (closed from its junction with Weir Street to a point on the road 200 metres east of the Weir Street junction)

 

Period of Proposed Closure

From 07.00hrs Monday 6th January, 2020 to 19.00hrs Tuesday 31st March, 2020.

(24hr Closure)

 

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Pipeline Construction

 

Alternative Routes

Traffic leaving Riverview Shopping Centre will turn right onto Weir Street(L-2050-0) and then left on to South Main Street (L2021-31 & then R603-0)  and continue along Pearse Street(R603-0),  then turn left onto St Finbarr Place (R586-0), then take a left onto McSwiney Quay(L-2050-0) whereby approaching the road closure from the opposite side.

                                                  

Traffic coming over Bridge Place or Glasslinn Road intending to traverse McSwiney Quay will be diverted southbound on to St Finbarr Place (R603-0), then continue westbound along Saint Patrick’s Quay (L-2057-0), turn right on to Market Street (R603-0), then turn left on to South Main Street (L-2021-31), turn right onto Weir Street as rejoining the L-2050-0 on approach to the Riverview Shopping Centre junction.

 

Local access to be maintained throughout the duration of the road closure where it is possible.

 

Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-214-19, not later than 5pm on Wednesday 27th November, 2019.  Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.
