The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Joe Carroll is encouraging visual artists who are embarking on their career to apply for an award to help further their practice and highlight their work. 

A ten-part radio soap opera, written, developed and voiced by older people in County Cork is now available online following a successful run on community radio.

Cork County Council Library and Arts Service has announced that West Cork-based poet James Harpur has been selected as the recipient of the artist residency at Ireland’s cultural headquarters on the European mainland. 

An inspiring new exhibition that explores Ireland’s rich textile heritage will open in Kinsale Library on the 17th of April. The exhibition ‘A Stitch in Time: The Clothes We Wore, The Future We Weave’ revisits practices from the past to inspire a more sustainable future. 

Cork County Council has launched its Irish Language Events and Initiatives Grant Scheme for 2025. This is the third year of the programme, launched in 2023 to provide funding for Irish language events, projects, and initiatives within the County of Cork. 

Cork County Council has announced that 10 arts initiatives have been awarded funding through the Creative Communities Scheme 2025. The successful applicants include a youth film project, festivals, creative hubs, a craft collective and a therapeutic community. 

An exhibition that celebrates creativity on the seven islands off the west coast of Cork will open at LHQ Gallery on Saturday the 22nd of March. 

Cork County Council has announced Eóin Heaney as the winner of its Ocean and Environment Commission. Supported by Creative Places West Cork Islands, the commission will see the acclaimed filmmaker undertake an 18-month residency across the seven inhabited West Cork islands.
 

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has announced a programme of events to mark International Women’s Day (IWD), which takes place on the 8th of March 2025.

Cork County Council and the OPW, under the State’s Per Cent for Arts Scheme, have announced a call for submissions for a public art commission as part of the Clonakilty Flood Relief Scheme. 
Per Cent for Art is a government initiative where 1% of the cost of any publicly funded capital, infrastructural and building development can be allocated to the commissioning of a work of art.
