Cork County Council Update Following Fire in Midleton - 12.45pm

Cork County Fire Service remain at the scene of a fire at a commercial recycling facility at Knockgriffin, Midleton.

Six appliances from Midleton and Cobh Fire Brigades attended the incident at the height of the fire and crews are continuing to monitor the scene. 

The fire was brought under control at approximately 04:00am and there are no reported injuries.

Cork County Council is continuing to engage with An Garda Síochana, and the HSE and both the Council and the HSE are satisfied that adequate mitigation measures are in place to manage any risks on site.

Part of the Northern Relief Road was closed overnight but has now reopened.
