Cork County Council Launches Plan for Economic and Community Development

The Cork County Local Economic and Community Plan 2024-2030 has been formally adopted by the Elected Members of Cork County Council. The plan provides a framework for how Cork County Council itself, and in partnership with stakeholders, will promote and support the economic and community development of the county over the next 6 years.

Midleton Greenway Phase 1 and New Safe Route to School Cobh Opened

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn and Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Jack Chambers TD have officially opened 2 milestone projects in County Cork, Phase 1 of the Midleton to Youghal (MY) Greenway and Cobh’s newest Safe Route to School.

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Services Hosts World Renowned Storyteller Taffy Thomas

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has announced that Passage West and Cobh Libraries will host special guest world-renowned UK-based storyteller Taffy Thomas on Wednesday the 13th of March. Thomas will first visit Passage West Library at 11am, followed by an event in Cobh Library at 2pm. Both events are free to the public and no booking is required.

Kanturk Chosen for Town Centre First Regeneration Plan

Kanturk has been announced as one of 26 towns nationally to benefit from a Town Centre First Plan. Funding of €30,000 has been granted to Cork County Council for the development of the plan as part of the Government’s national Town Centre First Policy initiative.

Cork County Council Launches First Climate Action Plan

Cork County Council has launched its first Climate Action Plan (2024-2029) which aims to support the transition to a low carbon and climate resilient county. The plan includes actions and projects which support the local authority in reducing its direct carbon emissions by 51% by 2030 in line with national emissions targets.
