Public Consultation Now Open for Greenway Projects in Cork County

Cork County Council is inviting members of the public to have their say on early-stage plans for two new greenway projects in Cork County.  Public consultations for both the Skibbereen sections of the West Cork Greenway and the Cork to Kinsale Greenway are now open for submissions.

Met Éireann Status Orange - Wind Warning - Storm Isha

A Met Éireann Status Orange Wind Warning for Cork (and much of the rest of the country) will come into effect at 5pm on Sunday evening 21st January and will remain in effect until 2am Monday morning 22nd January.  A Status Yellow Wind Warning will also be in effect for Ireland from 11am on Sunday morningto 4am on Monday morning.

Cork County Council and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre Announce Partnership Artist Residency for 2024

Cork County Council and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre are delighted to announce a partnership residency for artists Patsy Tyrrell & Fiona Boniwell. Taking place in April and May 2024, this partnered residency supports artists seeking opportunities to research and develop their practice, and engage with Uillinn, local and diverse communities and the public. The award includes a studio space for 4 weeks at Uillinn and a stipend of €2,500 each. Both residencies are funded by the Cork County Council Arts Service.

A special workshop designed to recruit, represent and retain women in local government was recently held in Cork County Hall.  Featuring several notable speakers, Cork County Council’s Women’s Caucus hope the event will not only support the retention of women currently in Council but will also serve to represent and recruit women into local government.

Visit Cork and Local Authorities Launch “Waste Not, Want Not” Conference to Tackle Food Waste in Tourism Sector

In a collective effort to address and mitigate the impact of food waste within the tourism sector, Visit Cork, in collaboration with Cork County Council and Cork City Council, proudly announces the launch of the "Waste Not, Want Not" conference. The conference responds to the alarming statistic that more than one-quarter of the global food production is wasted, contributing significantly to climate change, with food loss and waste responsible for 8-10% of greenhouse gas emissions.
