Cork County Council’s Library Service to Mark International Women’s Day

Cork County Council’s Library Service have a series of events on offer to mark this year’s International Women’s Day which takes place on Tuesday 8th March 2022. Libraries throughout the county will be organising book and information displays, as well as some special events aimed at celebrating and supporting women.

€893,001 Announced for Town and Village Renewal in Cork County

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has announced €893,001 in funding to support Cork County Council in the delivery of four projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.  The funding will support the development of town centre Remote Working Hubs at Cobh and Mitchelstown Libraries, including Hot Desks, Offices and Meeting Facilities. In the village of Kiskeam, the Council will work in conjunction with An Post to revitalise a currently vacant property adjoining the post office into a hot desking facility for remote workers.

New State of the Art Bandon Library Officially Opened

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan has officially opened the new state-of-the-art Bandon Library. Situated in the heart of Bandon town, the purpose-built facility is home to two 3D printers and is set to open 365 days a year.

Status Yellow - Met Éireann Weather Warning

Storm Franklin will cause very strong winds with severe and damaging gusts. These winds combined with very high seas will lead to wave overtopping along Atlantic coasts, which may result in coastal flooding.

Impact of Storm Eunice across Cork County 7.30AM Feb 18 2022

Cork County is currently under a Met Éireann Status Red – Wind Warning for Cork which is valid until 8.00am, a Status Orange Wind Warning until 11.00am with a Status Yellow Wind and Rain warning in effect until 6.00pm today, and also a current snow and ice yellow warning in place until 10.00am tomorrow Saturday 19/02/2022.

Cork County Council preparations in advance of Storm Eunice

Met Éireann has issued a Status Red – wind warning for Cork which is valid from 3.00 am to 8.00 am on Friday.  A status Orange Warning will then come into effect until 11.00 am with a Status Yellow warning in effect until 3.00 pm on Friday.

Funding Approved for 105 Artists and Arts Organisations for 2022

Cork County Council has announced the allocation of over €140,000 in funding through its 2022 Arts Grants Scheme. Following a second difficult year for the county’s arts sector, the funding provided to 105 artists and arts organisations in this year’s scheme will help to further revitalise the county’s arts sector.
