Temporary Closing of Public Roads
Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:
Road Subject of Proposed Closure
R-603-0(Part), South Main Street, Bandon.
“Phase I” closed from the Bridge Lane/Bridge Street Junction to Market Street Junction
During this period, Bridge Lane and Bridge Street will be closed to through traffic.
Although titled “Phase I”, this section of work will occur at a point within the overall road closure period, not necessarily at the beginning.
“Phase II” – closed from Bridge Lane/Bridge Street Junction to Market Street Junction.
During this period, Bridge Lane and Bridge Street will be open to through traffic.
Period of Proposed Closure
From 07:00hrs on Wednesday 25th of June 2025 to 20:00hrs on Sunday 31st of August 2025 (24hr Closure).
Reason for Proposed Closure
To facilitate Road Pavement Upgrade and associated works under Bandon TPREP Scheme.
Alternative Routes
Traffic intending to access South Main Street by the Market Street junction shall divert
west along L-2021-31(South Main Street), turn right onto Weir Street(L-2050-0),
continue onto McSwiney Quay(L-2050-0), turn right onto St Finbarr’s Place (R586-0 and
then R603-0) to pass the proximity of the proposed closed road from the opposite side.
During “Phase II” of the road closure access to Pearse Street via Bridge Street is
intended to be available to traffic also.
East bound Traffic from the N71 approaching the mini roundabout by the GAA pitch will be encouraged to divert right onto N71-1013, then turn left onto Bandon Relief Road (N71 -1018 & N71-102), at the roundabout turn left onto the Glasslinn Road(R586-0), continue to the St Finbarrs Place Junction whereby approaching the proximity of the close road from the east side. An alternative diversion route will also be available, commencing from the west end of the proposed closed road – then travelling along Market Street, St Patrick’s Place and New Road to the mini roundabout by the GAA pitch, whereby then traffic may follow the forementioned diversion route along the Bandon Relief Road.
Local Access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure where reasonably possible to do so.
Objections
Objections to this proposed temporary road closure should be made in writing, to the undersigned, quoting Ref: TRC-50-2025, not later than 5pm on Wednesday 28th May 2025. Telephone contact details should be included in the objection.

Beidh malairt slí eile ar fáil freisin, ag tosú ón taobh thiar den bhóthar dúnta beartaithe – agus ansin ag taisteal feadh Market Street, St Patrick’s Place agus New Road go dtí an timpeallán beag le taobh na páirce CLG, áit ar féidir leis an trácht an mhalairt slí thuasluaite a leanúint feadh Bandon Relief Road.
