Temporary Closing of Public Roads

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PUBLIC ROADS

Pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, & Article 12 of the Roads Regulations 1994, notice is hereby given that Cork County Council proposes to temporarily close the following road for the period and reason specified below:

Road Subject of Proposed Closure

L-2216 West of Cloughduv NS, Cloughduv, Co. Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 08:00hrs on Monday 24th June 2024 to 18:00hrs on Friday 12th July 2024. (24hr Closure).

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate installation of sewer.

Alternative Routes

Eastbound Traffic:  At Pound Cross remain on the R-585 and travel north to the N22.  Travel east along the N22 to Ryecourt and follow the L-2205 south into Cloughduv. 

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

Roads Subject of Proposed Closure

R-618 (Former N22) Main Street, Macroom Town, Co. Cork –  from Masseytown Junction to Chapel Hill Junction

L-9308-0 South Square and Sleaveen to junction with New Road, Macroom Town, Co. Cork.

L-93081-0 West Square, Macroom Town, Co. Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 12:30hrs to 00:45 hrs (Daily Closure) on Saturday 22nd June 2024 to Sunday 23rd June 2024.

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate Music Festival.

Alternative Routes

Westbound Traffic on R-618 (former N22) – At the Coachford Junction follow the R-618 north across New Bridge, take the L-3423-0 Rusheen Road, the L-3424 Cooleyhane Road and the L3418-33 Masseytown Road back onto the R-618 (former N22) at Masseytown Junction.

The route applies in reverse for Eastbound traffic on the R-618 (former N22).

Alternatively for Eastbound traffic travelling from Sleaveen follow L-3414-41 New Road and L-9301-0 Chapel Hill on the R-618 (former N22).

This route also applies in reverse for westbound traffic travelling to Sleaveen.

Pedestrian Access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.

L-7640 Poulaniska, Carrigtohill, Co. Cork.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 06:00hrs on Monday 6th May 2024 to 18:00hrs on Friday 7th June 2024. (24hr Closure).

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate the installation of ducting as part of the Celtic Interconnector Project.

Alternative Routes

Approaching from the North on L3606 Woodstock, continue on towards Carrigtohill Village until the T junction with Main Street Carrigtohill L-3680, turn left and then take the next left turn on to the L-3617 Carrigane road, continue along this over the rail bridge at Ballyadam and then turn left on to the L-7640. 

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the duration of the Road Closure.

L-3613-0, Gortacrue, Ballyspillane West, Midleton, Co. Cork – part at Gortacrue/Ballyspillane West from junction with L3610-25 to junction with L3614-0.

Period of Proposed Closure 

From 06:00hrs on Monday 13th May 2024 to 18:00hrs on Friday 12th July 2024. (24hr Closure).

Note: The road will not be closed until the adjacent L-3610-25 Road is reopened. 

Reason for Proposed Closure

To facilitate the installation of ducting as part of the Celtic Interconnector Project.

Alternative Routes

L3614, R627, R907, R626 & L3610. 

The stated diversion route is applicable in reverse when travelling in the opposite direction. 

Local Access will be maintained throughout the duration of the closure.
