Midleton Youghal Greenway

Cork County Council is constructing a Greenway on the disused railway corridor between Midleton and Youghal. The 23km long Greenway will be an off-road walking and cycling route through the heart of East Cork which will connect the towns and villages of Midleton, Mogeely, Killeagh and Youghal.
Midleton Youghal Greenway will be an important amenity for the local community by providing a safe, accessible and attractive route on an easy gradient that will be suitable for use by people of all ages and abilities. The development of the Greenway will enhance and extend cycle infrastructure within the county to support sustainable transport initiatives and will contribute to health promotion, wellbeing and overall quality of life. The Greenway will provide an important addition to tourism infrastructure with the county and especially within East Cork with Youghal, Midleton and the surrounding villages and rural areas expected to benefit from increased visitor numbers and a significant boost to the local economy.
Part 8 planning for the development of the Midleton Youghal Greenway was secured in 2019 and the project will be delivered by Cork County Council with funding from the Department of Transport under Project Ireland 2040.
