Flash Fiction 

Cork County Council Library and Arts Service are delighted to announce the winners of our 2024 International Women’s Day Flash Fiction Creative Writing Competition. 

Now in its 3rd year, the competition invited stories on the theme “Together”.

Stories in both Irish and English could be submitted with a winner in each language and a further three stories chosen as Highly Commended.

The winning writers each receive a €75 book token and each published story receives a certificate of recognition. 

The Winning Stories are:

“And They Lived Happily Ever After” by Mary Bradford Charleville Library 

“Corcra” le Gearóidín Nic Cárthaigh West Cork Mobile Library 

Highly Commended Stories:

“Questions Without Answers” by Michele Dmytrow Kinsale Library

“Yellow” by Lily Corcoran Skibbereen Library

“The Group Chat” by Marian Roche Mitchelstown Library
