The Finance (Local Property Tax) Act 2012 (as amended), makes specific provision that elected members of a local authority may pass a formal resolution to vary the basic rate of the Local Property Tax for their administrative area by a percentage known as the local adjustment factor.

Councillor Joe Carroll has been elected as the new Mayor of the County of Cork. He was nominated by Councillor Seamus McGrath and seconded by Councillor Alan Coleman.

The Annual Meeting of Cork County Council will take place on Friday 21st June 2024, at 11.00 am.

Cork County Council’s Chief Executive, Valerie O’Sullivan, has launched a review document showcasing the key achievements over the past 5 years.

All 55 seats for Cork County Council have now been filled following the 2024 Local Elections. 

Fianna Fáil is now the largest party on Cork County Council with 19 Elected Members, followed by Fine Gael with 18. There are 8 Non-Party Councillors, 4 from Independent Ireland, 3 Social Democrats, 2 Labour Party and 1 Sinn Féin.

Cork County Council has published a new highlights booklet focusing on the 2019 to 2024 council term. 

The bilingual publication reflects on the significant achievements of Cork County Council over the past five years. 

The Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr, Frank O’Flynn has welcomed funding to help address challenges such as vacancy and dereliction in three County Cork towns.
