Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of Part XI of the Planning & Development Act, 2000 (as amended) and in accordance with the requirements of Part 8, Article 81 and Article 83 of the Planning & Development Regulations, 2001 (as amended) that Cork County Council proposes to undertake the following development:

Refurbishment of the Church of Ireland, Castle Street, Macroom town, a Protected Structure in the Macroom Town Development Plan; St. Coleman’s is in the Record of Monuments & Places (RMP) for Cork under reference CO071-050002; while its surrounding graveyard is CO071-050001, NIAH 20852022.

 

The works are to provide a community and enterprise facility. Retention of partially completed 1990’s rear extension. The development allows for the provision of Ground floor: multi-purpose room associated with the community and enterprise uses. All vertical and horizontal circulation, stairs, etc. Ancillary service areas to provide plant, and toilets. First floor: café/ staff tea station associated semi- public areas. Provision of new universally accessible entrance within existing fabric. Site development works, including external hard landscaping, entrance lighting, and all associated site services above and below ground. Off-street bike parking spaces.

  1. By appointment with a member of the Council staff by calling the following number 026 41545 or emailing  macroommd@CorkCoCo.ie .

  3. On receipt of a written request, the Council will post or email a copy of the plans and particulars to a member of the public who wishes to make a submission within the statutory timeframe (indicated below).
  4. The request should be headed: ‘Part 8 Church of Ireland, Macroom’ and addressed to the Macroom Municipal District Office, Cork County Council, Town Hall, Macroom, Co. Cork.

Plans and Particulars of the proposed development may be inspected or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy for a period of 5 weeks from 10/12/2021 during public opening hours at the offices listed above Monday - Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm.

A submission or observation in relation to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made by using the online submission form on www.yourcouncil.ie or in writing, to: Mary OBrien, Architect, Macroom Municipal District Office, Cork County Council, Town Hall, Macroom, Co. Cork before 5.00pm on 28/01/2022.

As per Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening determination has been made and a determination has been made that an EIA is not required. In accordance with Article 120 (3), as amended by S.I. No. 296 of 2018, a person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice (date), apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment. Such a submission should be addressed to the Secretary, An Bord Pleanála, 64, Marlborough Street, Dublin, 1.
