North Cork Students Set for National Entrepreneurship Final

Cork County Council’s Local Enterprise Office Cork North and West have announced that teenage entrepreneurs from Patrician Academy will represent North Cork at this year’s Student Enterprise Programme National Final on Thursday 9th May.

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Services Hosts World Renowned Storyteller Taffy Thomas

Cork County Council’s Library and Arts Service has announced that Passage West and Cobh Libraries will host special guest world-renowned UK-based storyteller Taffy Thomas on Wednesday the 13th of March. Thomas will first visit Passage West Library at 11am, followed by an event in Cobh Library at 2pm. Both events are free to the public and no booking is required.

Kanturk Chosen for Town Centre First Regeneration Plan

Kanturk has been announced as one of 26 towns nationally to benefit from a Town Centre First Plan. Funding of €30,000 has been granted to Cork County Council for the development of the plan as part of the Government’s national Town Centre First Policy initiative.

Cork County Council Launches First Climate Action Plan

Cork County Council has launched its first Climate Action Plan (2024-2029) which aims to support the transition to a low carbon and climate resilient county. The plan includes actions and projects which support the local authority in reducing its direct carbon emissions by 51% by 2030 in line with national emissions targets.

€2.8 million Contract Signed to Examine Further Sections of the West Cork Greenway

Cork County Council has announced another significant milestone in the development of the West Cork Greenway with the appointment of RPS Consulting Engineers as technical advisors to progress a further 40km section of the greenway, including Crossbarry to Bandon, Bandon to Clonakilty and another section to Timoleague.

Statement from Cork County Council on €61.8m Allocation for National Roads, Active Travel and Greenway Projects

Cork County Council has welcomed the 2024 Grant Allocation of €61.8m announced for National Roads, Active Travel and Greenway Projects in County Cork. These include funding for the N73 Annakisha South Improvement Scheme, N72 West Pavement Improvement Schemes, Midleton to Youghal bypasses (Castlemartyr), Midleton to Youghal Greenway and Mallow to Dungarvan Greenway.

Cork County Council Approves Grants to Arts Organisations and Artists 2024

128 Artists and arts organisations are set to receive funding of over €166,000 from Cork County Council through its 2024 Arts Grants Scheme. Considering the scheme at their meeting on Monday February 12th Councillors noted that there has been a sharp rise in applications to the Arts Grants Scheme over the past two years.
