National Public Libraries Open Day

Cork County Council Library Branches are among 300+ libraries marking National Public Libraries Open Day 2024 on Saturday September 28th.

The Branch libraries will hold a number of activities throughout the day to highlight the wide and varied activities which take place on a regular basis.

National Public Libraries Open Day is an initiative to promote the role of public libraries in Irish society, raise awareness of the range of services they provide, and encourage people to become members. To coincide with the Day, the Take a Closer Look campaign is encouraging people to take a look at the wide-ranging free services open to them through their libraries.

Match Attax Card Swap Day at Bandon Library
Saturday September 28th from 2pm - 4pm
Drop in with your spare cards and trade with other fans!
This event is for children only.

Help us Decorate our Library at Bantry Library
Saturday September 28th from 3pm - 5pm
Staff at Bantry Library want your Arts & Crafts skills to help them decorate the Library for Autumn.
All the family is welcome.

Friendship Bracelet-Making Station at Clonakilty Library

BorrowBox Promotion at Clonakilty Library

Pop-Up Poetry Circle at Clonakilty Library

Cobh Library will be running its weekly drop-in Lego Club.
A great opportunity for Lego enthusiasts between 8 - 12 years old to have some fun free building for an hour.

Family Games Day at Dunmanway Library

Join us in Dunmanway Library for a Fun Family Games Day!
We have lots of board games, jigsaws, Lego, a colouring station and much more. No booking required, come along, and join in the fun. The library has something for everyone.

The Green Time Machine at Kinsale Library

Cork County Council Heritage Specialist Shannon Forde will be hosting a workshop on the theme 'What can the past teach us about a sustainable future?'
Audience members are encouraged to participate by bringing along stories about family farming traditions, a cherished heirloom, and recollections and photographs of old transport methods.
No booking is required. All are welcome.
