Cork County Council has officially launched two new “School Zones” at Scoil Mhuire na nGrást, Belgooly and Gaelscoil Dhroichead na Banndan. The initiative has transformed the front of school areas, providing colourful and child-friendly integrated road designs to enhance safety and accessibility for students, parents, staff and the community.

Cork County Council has officially launched its Town Centre First (TCF) Regeneration Plan for Skibbereen. The ambitious but pragmatic plan for Skibbereen Town Centre represents the culmination of significant public consultation by Cork County Council as part of the national Town Centre First policy initiative. 

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys and Minister of State, Joe O’Brien have announced a further €50 million in funding under the Community Recognition Fund 2024. Cork County Council will receive an allocation of €2,014,691 under the fund.

Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn has officially reopened one of County Cork’s most iconic tourist attractions, Camden Fort Meagher, following an extensive revitalisation and enhancement programme.  

A Chief Executive’s Two-Year Progress Report on the implementation of the County Development Plan has now been published and is available to view.

Tá an ciste á riar go háitiúil ag Comhairle Contae Chorcaí, agus bunaíodh é in 2020 chun séadchomharthaí seandálaíochta agus láithreáin stairiúla áitiúla a chaomhnú, a chothabháil, a chosaint agus a chur chun cinn.

Eight important archaeological heritage projects in Cork County are set to receive over €420,000 from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage under the 2024 Community Monuments Fund. Administered locally by Cork County Council, the fund was established in 2020 to conserve, maintain, protect, and promote local archaeological monuments and historic sites. 

Secondary schools from all over County Cork gathered at Fota Wildlife Park’s newly established Education, Conservation and Research Centre on 10th April 2024 for the regional ‘Rubbish Film Festival Awards’, an event dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability through the powerful medium of film.
