Cork County Council has allocated additional resources to improve and update the electoral register to ensure its integrity going forward. 

A Status Yellow Wind warning remains in place for Cork until 3.00pm this afternoon. Storm Darragh has brought very strong and gusty winds overnight and this morning. Cork County Council crews were out throughout the night and additional crews were mobilised this morning. The Council received more than 100 reports of fallen trees and debris. North and East Cork were particularly impacted however reports were received from across the county. 

Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team convened this morning ahead of a Met Éireann Status Orange Wind warning for Cork. The warning comes into effect at 8:00pm tonight (Friday, 6th December) and will remain in place until 10.00am tomorrow morning. A Status Yellow Wind Warning will be in place for Cork from 3.00pm this afternoon to 3.00pm on tomorrow afternoon. 

Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team met this morning to review developments overnight following a series of weather warnings for Cork.

Cork County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team continued to meet throughout the day today (Saturday) and council crews are monitoring the flood warning systems in Mallow and Fermoy. Flood barricades have been erected as required. Crews will also be monitoring the situation in Midleton, Rathgormack and Mogeely.

Cork County Council is advising motorists and the public that conditions remain poor throughout the county after heavy rain and strong winds overnight.
